Song and Sword Exists to Proclaim Jesus with a

“Song of Grace and the Sword of Truth.”

Our name originated from Psalm 149:6 where it says of the Lord’s people,

“Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands.”

This dual reality of Christ followers reflects the God we serve.

Our ancient brothers sang, “The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love” (Psalm 145:8 – song of grace).

He is a God of Mercy.

At the same time He wields ultimate justice and truth with his word being the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17).

He is a God of Truth.

We pray that the Spirit will create in us a fellowship, that like our Lord was “full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

what
we
believe

We believe in the Trinity-God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit as revealed in scripture. One God. Three distinct persons.

We believe that Jesus, fully God and fully human, was sent into the world to save us from our sins. We follow him as Christ and Lord and the only way to God the Father.

We believe in the bodily death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

We believe that God the Holy Spirit dwells in, gifts, and empowers all Christ followers.

We believe that the church is the body, bride, and building of Jesus. The worldwide church, and therefore every Christ-following congregation of believers is the expression of Jesus in the world today.

We believe that the Bible is God’s written word. Since all of it testifies to the Living Word Jesus and is inspired by the Holy Spirit, we define sin and righteousness by the Scriptures alone.

We believe that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and not by any works we can do on our own. As such we maintain a loving and inviting posture towards
all people.

We believe in the resurrection of our earthly bodies and that Jesus will return for both the living and the dead who have put their trust in him, and that we will spend eternity with him.

We believe that we are on mission to make disciples, teach Jesus, and baptize people from all nations beginning in our respective locations.

We believe that God designed marriage from the beginning for a man and a woman to enjoy an equal, complementary, and loving relationship where two become one.

1It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4how that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 5Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. 6For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. 7And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
